Children Get a Place of Their Own at Garden Show

The CNY Blooms Syracuse Flower and Garden show kicked off today at the Oncenter Complex. But plant-loving adults won't be the only ones enjoying the show this year. Planning Committee member Helen Schueler of Phoenix Flower Farm says children will have lots to do this year in the Children's Discovery Garden.

Schueler says this is the third year the Garden Show has featured a special area for children, and in the past it has been a big success. To keep track of how many children visit the exhibit, Schueler says workers will be passing out free bracelets that were counted beforehand.

Wegmans is one of the main sponsors of the Garden Show, and this year Schueler says they are offering free apples from Wegmans to all children visiting the Discovery Garden. Schuler says the children will be able to pick the apples from a large, live tree.

Besides apples, Schueler says the Children's Garden will also have scavenger hunts, photo booths and animals for the children to meet.

The CNY Blooms Syracuse Flower and Garden Show runs until Sunday, March 7th and children twelve and under can enter the Children's Garden for free.
